Farkuma Bomb!

Latest custom from street artists and all round top bloke Fark is this piece based on the Huck Gee Akuma Bomb toy. Using his trademark colours and super glossy finish this is a really nice custom with some subtle but neat touches such as the cap on the back of the figure and the spraycan replacing the bomb.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Horvath!

In what i'm sure is only a brief respite from the ILD/McFaul Wars here's a look at some rather nice Glow in the Dark Turtles. Being released at Yoyamart in NYC on Feb 12th.

Each piece is limited to 100pcs and i thinks me needs a green one! Alas no pink one for Maz :(

Dunny Wars...

Round 4 and ILD throw thier toys out of the pram . We tried to get a comment from an ILD spokeman, but they declined - "no comment from us were too busy working on real work rather than fiddling with each other".

Surely McFaul aren't let this one pass them by?!?!

MAD Sham the Clown - Comic Con version

Blinging Comic Con with BIC Plastics is this version of MAD's Sham character. No word on availability or pricing as of yet.

Oh no they didn't... OH YES THEY DID! Round 3 Goes to McFaul!

Just when you thought it was over and everyone could let sleeping dogs lie, McFaul come back with their assault on ilovedusts creation. Publicly humiliated in front of their classmates after McFaul stole Mimic's scythe and beheaded him. Behold the gory mess!!

Round 4....?

Love and hate such a close thing...

South coast rivals and good friend’s ilovedust and Mcfaul have been squabbling like little girls pulling on each others hair ;)

Ding, ding. Round 1..... Mcfaul kicked it off with the above photo, a harmless little shot of ilovedust taking it doggy style. Round one to them.

Ding, ding. ROund 2.... ILD bring it back to even stevens with a back foot in the balls . See photos below.

It all in good jest you understand... Ding ding round 3....

Kidrobot February Releases

Judging by the muted reaction, collectorsare none too impressed with Feb's KR releases, but lets be honest that's because we all know they've got some highly-anticipated stuff in the works for the first half of 09 for Dunny collectors that I guess people are saving up for.

First up is a collab with Stones Throw Records - Quasimoto - the alter ego create by mad professor/producer Madlib and a nice companion to the MadVillain fig. This 8" piece is available in two colours - yellow and blue - and comes with a removeable brick and cigarette. Retail on this is around $50.

KR is also dropping some new zipper pulls this time created by illustrator Aaron Meshon - a series of 26 pieces ranging from Sausages to buildings and definitely appealing to a slightl younger audience. Due for release on Feb 26th for $3.95

Finally, the last release is something that's been around in one form or another for a while now...the Labbit Stool created by Frank Kozik. There's been a white version in the KR NYC store for a few years and also adorning the Circa nightclub in Toronto. This fibreglass piece is now available to the public for $1,250 with only 50 available worldwide. Having see these in the flesh I have to say the picture doesn't do it justice.

The Ultimate drawing pin!

Was just browsing some random sites and found the ultimate drawing pin (thats a Thumb Tack to our American cousins). Who wouldn't want a bullitin board decorated with fake throwing stars!

Available here for $12 a piece. Bargain!

Bunny Brooches.. Swooon

I just love these bunny brooches hand made by Holly. The first batch she made flew out of the shop, but she has just put up a new batch. They are hand cast in resin, then hand painted and set into a plush back. The face is an original sculpt and the paintwork is sealed with clear lacquer for extra protection.

Until this weekend holly is accepting commissions for valentines day for anyone who would like a brooch made in a specific colour scheme.

I love them!!

Anarkitty..

I have been meaning to blog about this show for a while, so its really about time I did. We were hoping to get over to Ireland for it, but as usual work got in the way. The show took place at the Frameworks in Belfast, at the end of last year to a packed audience. Both myself and Nick love Anarkittys work, and really hope to get to her next show.

Artwork available to buy here

The Gonz!

In the vague hope that the UK might get a summer in 2009 (yeah, I know!!!) I decided to get some new shoes and what better shoes than the new canvas Gonz x Adidas Skateboarding release, based around the old Campus model. Nice to see Adidas really expanding their range with strong shoes and letting Gonz do his thing.

Ye Old English Dunny Series...

Upon our return from London, we found a big box awaiting us from the lovely Kidrobot. Although we had a glimpse of some of the Dunny whilst at the launch it was nice to be able to take our time and have a good look over all the designs.

We think this is a great series, but then I guess we are probably quite biased towards it. The Dunny designs and the packaging are fab - Well done ilovedust for such a great job.

Yummy biscuits...

Went to my local Chinese super market last week to stock up on dim dum. Couldn't resist buying these cute little biscuity snacks... Very tasty! Highly recommended.

A valid Question..

Found this stuck to a depressingly empty woollies. I'm sad to have seen such an institution gone down the tubes. Pick and mix will never be the same again. Boo hoo!

Carnival Cartoons NYCC releases..

NYCC is fast approaching, and we are being pretty slack at posting the releases that are planned. Probably because we aren't going, so we are trying to pretend its not happening lol. For those of you that don't know, NYCC is happening 6th - 8th of Feb (much better in april god damn it)

Spotted....

Whilst watching Hollyoaks this morning (UK crappy teen drama - shhh I know I know, I watch some god awful things) I spotted this DIY Qee on the kitchen shelf in the student accommodation. Amazing that I was awake enough to notice really....

Cadbury Eyebrows Dance advert – Do the dance!

HAHAH you have to love the direction Cadburys have gone with their ads, far cry fro the crumbliest flakiest chocolate, although they should bring back that sexy rabbit from the caramel ads.. I still prefer the Phil Collins loving gorilla, but this is genius none the less. That balloon bit cracks me up!

UK Dunny Launch @ Selfridges...

Thursday night saw the release of the Ye Olde English Dunny at Selfridges London. The event was hugely anticipated in our small but closely knit UK toy scene and it went down a storm.

I think I can safely say that we, and the majority of the Artists involved, had no idea what to expect from this event. We certainly didn’t envision queues of fans waiting to get inside and grab their goodies like you see in the states.

Selfridges ‘wonder room’ was full to bursting the whole night, with fans and artists free to chat, drink, and draw. Even Paul Budnitz made it over for the event, which was nice to see. The feeling of the night was one of weirdness, and I’ve been racking my brain trying to pin down why that was. I guess us UK artists are inherently shy “attic drawing” (well put by Dok A) monkeys, who aren’t used to the kidrobot circus being in town and all the attention that brings. Or maybe it was the Selfidges link, all that glamour when we are much more suited to downtrodden warehouses, complete with paint splatter? Either way there is no denying the prestige of this event, and what it means for the UK scene.

There has been mixed feelings and hot debate on Kidrobot’s location choice. Many thinking that Selfridges offered something that wasn’t in keeping with the feel of the scene. I myself had mixed feelings when I initially heard about Selfridges involvement with the toy world, but I think that you would have to be very naive to overlook the positives. Selfridges and Kidrobot sit hand in hand, the direction that Kidrobot have pushed over the year’s means that their exclusivity fits in with Selfridge’s company ethos. The traffic that Selfridges push through their doors can only help to make the scene in the UK larger and stronger. I (nor most other toy fans) wouldn’t buy product from there, favouring independent stores, but for the people who don’t even know our world exists; it’s a door into a whole new world of excitement, and we welcome them with open arms!

It was really great to see everyone, new and old faces, showing support for the UK scene. We rarely get events like this in the UK, so it was great to see everyone getting behind it. Apologies to anyone we didn’t get to talk to. The only down side of the event was the Selfridges organisation of the Queuing system, I know a lot of people were left disappointed. Not even Geoff could get in, and they didn’t seem to really care when I pleaded with them…. Sorry Geoff I really tried!!

Big pat on the back to everyone involved in the series and the launch event. For those of you who didn’t make it here is a snipit from KR website.. Enjoy!
