Disney buy Marvel for $4bn

Disney obviously had some spare cash they'd stashed away during the credit crunch as yesterday they splashed out $4 billion to buy out the comic book goliath. A massive deal with potentially massive repercussions, but mostly in a positive way.

No doubt that Disney will put Marvels catalogue of characters to work, putting their cartoons on Disneys networks around the world. Maybe we'll start to see development plans to bring Marvel into Disney World. Same goes for the potential development of video games, although the only decent offering that springs to mind from either company is Kingdom Hearts. Mostly i'd expect their relationship to work best in the world of film with Disney producing the franchise films from the stable of their new acquisition.

And considering the fact that we're a toy blog we can't ignore that aspect of the deal but seeing as both companies have produced some awesome figures with Medicom I can't see any reason for changing that. The one thing we might see are some Mickey x Marvel VCD figures perhaps with Mickey Mouse doing his best impressions of Marvel stars. Expect Wolverine to be first on that list.
