Wot I did yesterday!

Right this is what happened to me yesterday. Visited Mr Paul Naylor up at Indigo Tattoo in Northwich, Cheshire. It's a gal from my fave pin-up artist Gil Elvgren and Paul did an amazing job on it. One of the best guys in the country in my humble opinion for Black and grey work especially. Took just 4hrs from start to finish and i couldn't be happier with it.

I highly recommend him and wouldn't be suprised if i end up back there again some time (sorry parents!) Beautiful, beautiful work! Thank you. I'll post another pic when its healed and a bit less red.

Ledbetter Smash!!!

Yes please!

Bertie rocking your world...

Here is the latest teaser of the Bertie robot from Klim over at bigshottoyworks. This is the final test shot, weapons and accessories have been changed. Check out Ashley's blog for more info and a size comparison. Can't wait!!

What i've been up too...

Yesterday i got my tongue pierced. I have to say that it was one of the least painful piercings i have ever had, which surprised me loads. Today it is sore but more like aching than anything else and I'm talking a bit like a spaz lol, well i am trying not to talk as much as possible but as you know thats tough for me!. Nick will post later to explain why i was in the vicinity of a piercer in the first place, but i don't want to ruin his surprise!! Thanks paul for taking such good care of me :)

Skullskin

Incoming from Bonustoyz....French female artist AJEE. Nice original sculpt standing at around 11" - very stylised piece that will hopefully be a big success.

I NEED THESE....

Produced and release by Jeremy Fish as part of his SuperFishal brand, the idea behind these decks is to have two artists collaborating on one graphic. This first Collab Series includes artists Pushead - "The Music" (8-1/4), Todd Bratrud - "The Mermaid" (8) and Michael Sieben - "The Mushrooms" (7-5/8). Each deck is made by local San Diego deck manufacturer Watson Laminates with decks limited to 500. The decks are currently available in all Upper Playground outlets.

I need them!!!

Jim Philips x Beams x Medicom Toy Screaming Leg Figure...

Just spotted this over on hypebeast.com. Jim Philips has teamed up with Medicom and Beams to produce this screaming leg figure (its clearly a screaming foot though!). Anyway i think its funny so go get one. Available now at Beams.

More Chupacabra...

Pictures of the next two versions of Horvath's KFGU Chupacabra. First up is #2 the "Turner Maine" variant named after the town where the creature has been spotted...yes I said "has" because I believe it exists - the creature, not the town. Obviously that exists.

And here is #3 "Goat Sucker" type to accompany the recent swamp gas type Mothman and Flatty in translucent hot pink.

The Joker

Revealed in all his glory on the cover of the upcoming Empire. Really getting far too excited for my own good about The Dark Knight!!!

Giant Skuttle in the works?

Jacky from Play Imaginative is being a real tease with this...prototype picture above suggest plans for a 19" Skuttle are well under way and could see a release mid-next year!

I don't own any Skuttles but this is and awesome sculpt and has real menace. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Craola x Upper Playground

How random is this huh? A walrus in a sweater and top hat with a gothic hand puppet.

It's the new Upper Playground toy created by Craola, based on its mascot, to be produced by Ningyoushi. Loving it because it's so unlike anything else. 7" limited to 500 pieces - hopefully coming to the UP store in London at a reasonable price sometime in December...the dollar price makes me think it will be around the £40 mark.

This is the first in what's scheduled to be a line of UP toys...I'm hoping that means we'll see a Jeremy Fish and Sam Flores pieces as well.

Oooohhh....Gundam!

I love Gundam but never collected any of the pieces, despite the high tech versions being some of the best models you can get. But this caught my eye...apparently a collab between Bandai and Japanese clothing label Mastermind.

Available for pre-order from the Bandai hobby shop....for £1,500. But as robots go it does pretty much rule

Jingle Juice 2....

If your free on thursday the 6th of Decemeber pop along to bodhi for some pre-christmas drinks with Mad and Sket. Myself and Nick won't be there, as we will be shaping up to meet mad and sket at ATP but the rest of the Clutter crew should be present. Don't have too much fun without us ;)

KFGU: Chupacabra

So we've already seen Horvath's baby Chupacabra in the UMA sets from Wonderwall and now we have the daddy (or mommy could be a female goat sucking creature after all). This one definitely has less of a "horvath" look compared to others and it much more like a standalone Kaiju piece.

Nice looking paint job too.

Fowler Signing..

Pete Fowler has announced a signing at London's Forbidden Planet store on Friday the 7th of December 6-7 pm. Shame it clashes with ATP and i won't be able to go :( booo.... someone should check my schedule first lmao!! I'm sure it will be rocking though!!

No Music Day?!

Apparently someone wanted today to be "no music day" in order to contemplate the beauty of music and appreicate it more.

To which I say...bollocks. So lets have some Sonic Youth and at the same time marvel at what an awesome skater Jason Lee is and how young he is in this video!

Shawnimals - Hell Yes!

Shawn's been quiet of late...busy doing his DS Ninjatown game I hope but now Kaboom! new mini plushes coming out in conjunction with the super wicked Rotofugi.

Loving this series - great designs esp the Zombie Ninja and lil mobile in Business Ninja's hand! Mr Demon and Ninja Master are the chase figs.

JLed Dunny

So it's been a few days...but y'know with the Buka show and whatnot the Clutter team have been nursing hangovers, emtpy wallets and hiding due to embarassing photos!

Anyhow - picked this up from KR after a tip off on Octane3 boards - possible Ledbetter 8" design. Not bad huh? It's a tad too cutesy for me and I don't like the tail painted on the back..wonder if KR would do a tail a la his LA Series 3?

Still, it's not confirmed yet but it looks as if Ledbetter fans will have a busy 2008 with Ringo colourways, Gamerita colourways etc.

Horatio Caine saves Africa!

So i'm wathcing CSI Miami last night - and it wasn't that bad for a change - when they revealed the killer through a simple blood test...oh the dramatic tension.

How they'd do it? By testing for an antibody used in a Dengue Fever immunisation when they went to Africa. Ha! Caught evil-triplet-husband-impersonator-killer-at-a-charity-function woman...yes it was that stupidly complex.

Weird thing is no one has ever managed to create a vaccine for one of the worst diseases in the world. All hail Horatio Caine and the power of the constantly removed sunglasses!

Huck and KR

Stumbled upon this wonderous little guy this morning. 305 pastel pieces from Huck Gee for KidRobot's new store opening in Miami. I don't know about you, but I think he's pretty bad ass...Wish I still lived in Florida!

Nostalgia - mix tapes

While having a frankly rare ridy up I found a shoe box with some old mix tapes in it. Stuff i'd totally forgotten about...I guess it was made in1992 (I think) for that summer going camping with mates and a few festivals.

Talk about a trip down memory lane. It's weird how this whole culture of mix tape has disappeared with digital technology. Sure you can make an awesome mix on itunes with gapless playback but it's not the same. You need that little pause between songs while you dug out the tape or CD to copy a tune.

Here's the tape playlist (side 1 more indie, side 2 more of a hip hop flavour) for you all to laugh at the teenage angst:

Side 1
"Touch me i'm sick" - Mudhoney
"Teenage Riot" - Sonic Youth
"Negative Creep" - Nirvana
"Debris Slide" - Pavement
"Grey Cell Green" - Neds Atomic Dustbin
"Everything Flows" - Teenage Fanclub
"Sheena-na-gig" - PJ Harvey
"September Gurls" - Big Star
"Never Talking to you Again" - Husker Du

"Cactus/Allison" - Pixies

Side 2
"Black Country Chainstore Massacre" - PWEI
"Kool Thing" - Sonic Youth
"Sliver" - Nirvana
"Peter Piper" - Run DMC
"They want money" - Kool Moe Dee
"Ain't no half-stepping" - Big Daddy Kane
"Follow the Leader" - Eric B and Rakim
"You Must Learn" - Boogie Down Productions
"Know how" - Young MC
"Say No Go" - De La Soul

Now I have to hunt them all down to stick on the iPod!

Qeetastrophy.. Punk Rock Bunnyqee!!..

This 16" Bunny Qee has been a very busy boy!! He has completed his hardcore stint on the Vans Warped Tour in the states and has been signed by members of Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Avenge 7 Fold, MC Chris, Good Charlotte, members of the Jackass crew and many more. In the Picture above he is spotted being signed by members of Cartel in a web interview!!

He then moved on to Monster-Mania 9 where every celeb in attendance signed him including horror legends like Karen Black, Chris Sarandon, Angus Scrimm, Sid Haig, Tom Savini and Danny Trejo. In Toronto he hung out with Paris Hilton, Darren Lynn Bousman, Anthony Stewart Head, Tobin Bell and Paul Sorvino's.

He is due to move on and collect more celeb friends in the next 3 weeks! Raymond says he is due to be auctioned the end of October, However as we are now in November, he has either already been auctioned or its next year lol. I'll keep you informed if i learn anything about it. All Proceeds will be going to St. Jude's Pediatric Hospital.

Data suggests idiot/scratch card link

Read a story the other day about a woman who bought a scratchcard and was too stupid to relaise she hadn't won. The Cool Cash card had to be withdrawn because a number of players didn't realise if they'd won or lost.

The concept is simple. Scratch windows to reveal a temprature that was lower than the one displayed on the card to win some cash. I leave it to the idiot to explain her confusion:
"On one of my cards it said I had to find temperatures lower than -8. The numbers I uncovered were -6 and -7 so I thought I had won, and so did the woman in the shop. But when she scanned the card the machine said I hadn't. I phoned Camelot and they fobbed me off with some story that -6 is higher - not lower - than -8 but I'm not having it."
Seriously now, she and the shop owner think -6 is lower than -8.

Reminds me of this woman on Millionnaire once. Yes that's right....an Elephant is bigger than the Moon. Go home, do not collect £500.

JMJ: 5 years later

Great documentary I caught on the interweb over the weekend regarding Jam Master Jay's murder, his influence etc. Not much to say about such a legend.

Catch it here:

On a lighter note Adidas are apparently going to re-issue the JMJ Ultrastar's later this month with proceeds going to his foundation. Such a beautiful, clean design and a great cause.

WTF Kidrobot on X factor?

Ok so firstly i would like to clarify that i don't normally watch the X factor, after the comedy audition stages its a load of crap, but i just got in and so decided to watch it. Anyway there i am thinking i should turn this shit off, when on comes the choreographer wearing a Kidrobot hoodie!! Shock horror, prime time Saturday night television. You couldn't get a better advert (and actually you couldn't have picked a more Kidrobot styled hoodie, i wonder if he was given it to wear?)!! Be in TX Max next lol.

Obey @ Stolenspace

If you're in London anytime in the next month you might want to get yourself to Brick Lane at check out the Obey show at Stolenspace (temporary place not the Gallery space for the SEEN show). Even if you don't like his work particularly the size and scale of this exhibit will blow you away.

We're talking a huge space with a couple of canvas that would probably fill my entire flat! I've never really liked a lot of Shepard's print work but these are something else - the layers, the details, the textures really can only be appreciated up close and personal.

I definitely have a new appreciation of his work. There's the whole question of whether it can be called "art" just because it's in a gallery when really it's advertising his brand by taking propaganda and advertising images and subverting them is open to debate.

If I have one criticism it's that with the amount of prints Obey have been putting out - practically one a week - a lot of the images a very familiar and used over and over again. This could be tied back to the idea of brand and advertising but to me, it lessened the impact of a few pieces. This was especially true when the same exact images were done as a canvas and as a metal etching, as impressive as they were.

Oh and the minor annoyance of the Joe Strmmer piece that explained he was, shock horror "in the Clash". See, betcha never knew that huh ;)

MAD for KR

So it's a couple weeks later, but I had a chance to stop by the NY Kid Robot release of Mad's new Ninja Dunny. In white, black and a very limited red, the piece comes with throwing star and samurai sword. Though the variant colors are cool, I think the white is definitely the strongest (good thing because that's what I got in my blind box:)) The figure is top notch in my opinion-even the blood looks realistic and the packaging certainly got equal attention. Definitely worth the $50, but good luck tracking one down. Thanks to KR and Mad for accomodating my early arrival and for another quality release.

Neckface: NYC show

Seems the hipsters were out in force in NYC for the latest Neckface show. I think his paintings have got a lot better - technically - I stil find a lot of 'em childish crap. But he's just trying too hard to be 'controversial', which i'm sure goes down a treat with the braying lower eastsider hypebeasts and their oh-so-ironic lives (paid for by mommy and daddy).

Hanging puppets? Okay, fine. But the background photographs of dead people bothers me. It's not that they turn my stomach - because they don't - I just find it disrespectful to people and their families who have suffered. At least one of the pics for example is an eathquake victim in South America.

Why not show the war dead? Maybe some of the 30,000 Iraqis killed by the fabulous 'Liberation forces'? Because he's all surface. Go beyond that and there's nothing. No message, no "edgyness". His work is as dead as those people. Oh and showing any of the above would also be disrespectful but it might at least be delivering some sort of expression or statement.
That's Neckface...spelt "C.....U....N....
